YIN YOGA & MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

> Mondays 7:30-8:30pm
A quiet practice combining mindfulness meditation, breathwork and yin yoga to to open and cleanse the body as we transition from the stillness and introspection of the winter season into the renewal, cleansing and opening energy of springtime. An introduction to the meridian system with a focus on the kidney and liver channels, to tonify and cleanse in preparaton for spring. And an introduction to mindfulness practices. Suitable for all levels.

In traditional Chinese Medicine the liver is associated with spring time which is a season of growth and new beginnings. A healthy liver energetically helps regulate the smooth flow of energy in the body, reducing stress, irritability and mood swings, and increasing flexibility and openness to change. Yin yoga is a style of yoga based on the meridian system of Traditional Chinese Medicine and involves holding passive postures for between 2-5 minutes and has similar effects as receiving an acupuncture treatment. This practice deeply opens the body's connective tissue and joints and moves areas of blocked energy to tonify the organs and increase physical and mental health.
